Wilcox Lakes Wild Forest
Central Adirondack Trail, U.S. Highway 9, near Warrensburg in Warren County
Located in the southeastern area of the Adirondack Park, Wilcox Lakes Wild Forest is made up of 140,000 acres of Forest Preserve lands.
The Wilcox Lake Wild Forest is located in the area of Stony Creek, Thurman, Bakers Mills, Day, Wells, Hope Falls, and Northville. Generally bounded on the north by State Route 8, on the east by the Hudson River, on the south by the Adirondack Park Blue Line, and on the west by State Route 30. It offers many recreational opportunities, including hiking to the fire tower on Hadley Mountain, camping on Wilcox Lake, and ice fishing on Garnet Lake. With over forty-five miles of marked trails available, there are countless opportunities for hiking, skiing, and snowmobiling in the unit. There is an approximately 6 mile hike each way to Wilcox Lake.
