Central Adirondack Trail, U.S. Highway 9, near Lake George in Warren County
The Lake George Wild Forest contains miles of marked trails to explore, allowing the public easy access to majestic natural attractions including Prospect Mountain.
Prospect Mountain once used an incline railway car to access the house at the top where people could dance and eat. When this failed, it was bought by G. F. Peabody and later donated to the State. In 1932 the building burned and was replaced by a steel firetower. Prospect Mountain Veterans Memorial Highway is a parkway located in the town of Lake George, New York. The road is 5.88 miles (9.46 km) long, starting at the US 9 and NY 9N concurrency and ending at the peak of Prospect Mountain. At the top is a breathtaking view of the Lake and mountains, as far away as Vermont and New Hampshire.
